About the Event

The challenge of poor outcomes in mathematics is a well known issue that some may have come to accept. We are at the bottom rung in the TIMSS study for Grade 6 and 8 even though we field Grade 7 and 9 learners. Our matric mathematics performance continues to reflect badly on the capacity of teaching in the subject.

SIGMA Talks are an effort to allow continuous engagement by mathematics educators and those involved in the subject including subject advisors, examiners, moderators, authors etc.; the rationale is that through such engagement we will advance approaches that lead to improved outcomes.
